Below are some main highlights, in brief description, stating important aspects of the project that make this building LEED Silver Certified.

WATER EFFICIENCY: This project reduced the use of potable water used for irrigation by 77%. This was achieved through the use of an efficient irrigation system, specially designed for this project, along with the use of native plantings which require less irrigation, and plumbing fixtures that use much less water. Also, water used for building sewage conveyance was reduced by 36.1%.

ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE: This building was designed to achieve a level of energy performance that uses 28% less energy. This decreases both the environmental and the economic impact associated with excessive energy use.

MATERIALS & RESOURCES: Attainable goals were set to ensure that recycling and the use of local resources would be utilized as much as possible. The design utilized building materials that in total have 35% of their value in recycled content and 66% were manufactured within 500 miles of the project site. Also, 89% of construction debris was recycled in lieu of disposal in landfills and incinerators.

INNOVATION: Innovation points were earned for going above and beyond the standard LEED requirements. The high percentages of recycled materials and materials manufactured locally, qualified for innovation points. Additionally, a Green housekeeping program was developed that ensures that all cleaning agents and processes are safe for the environment, staff, and occupants.
